House Log Permit

FOR WHO: Shareholders and non-shareholders who want to cut house logs for building homes.

FOR WHAT: Cutting House logs. TKC has established six (6) house log cutting sites throughout the region.

FEE: There is no fee for shareholders, however; still need to obtain a permit. The fee for non shareholders is $5.00 per log.

Do I need a permit to harvest timber on TKC land?

A:

Yes, non-shareholders and TKC Shareholders need a TKC permit to harvest timber. Non-shareholders are charged a $5 per log fee. There is no charge for TKC Shareholders, however a permit is required so that TKC can track and manage the resource.

Q:

Can I harvest timber from anywhere on TKC land?

A:

No, timber cannot be harvested just anywhere. There are specific cutting areas defined by the TKC board, and harvesting elsewhere will be considered in trespass of TKC lands. TKC has 6 designated sites for timber harvesting taht have been selected by professional foresters.

Where are the 6 designated sites for harvesting timber on TKC land?

A:

Both TKC Shareholders and non-shareholders must first contact TKC for a permit before any timber is extracted. The approximate cutting areas are:
  FORKS - 1 mile downriver from Lower Kalskag
  NO NAMES LAKE - 10 miles downriver from Aniak
  OSKAWALIK - 1 mile down from the Osakawalik River
  CACHES - 4 miles upriver from Sleetmute
  STONY CUTOFF - junction of Stony River cutoff and Stony River
  STONY RIVER - 10 miles upriver from the Stony River and Kuskokwim River confluence.

Can I harvest timber, then mill it for resale?

A:

No, timber removed on TKC land from teh 6 designated sties may only be used for personal use. It cannot be bartered or sold.

The limit per approved application is 200 logs
